About
Nearsighted Globe (NG) is transforming myopia diagnosis globally – improving the quality of life and livelihood of those in hard-to-reach rural communities in low-and-middle income countries.
Developed in 2019 by vision scientists at the world-renowned Schepens Eye Research Institute (SERI)/Massachusetts Eye and Ear – Harvard Medical School, the Nearsighted Globe Refractive Kit (RK) is a high-science/low-tech/low-cost diagnostic device that measures the power of lenses needed to correct nearsightedness. With the RK, Nearsighted Globe aims to bring the best of vision science to hard-to-reach rural communities in low-and-middle income countries. Nearsightedness (Myopia) is one of the leading global health challenges of the twenty-first century, impacting the lives and wellbeing of over two billion worldwide – making it one of the greatest obstacles to a productive and fulfilling life.
With its core value ‘vision is a right’ NG is transforming the way the world sees.
